Project:
Mazda X French Paper
Role: Graphic Designer
Tools: Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Illustrator
Objective: Design a magazine promoting paper from the company French Paper and displaying Mazda Miata's from different generations.
The Challenge
Creating cohesive visuals that bridge two industries, automotives and high-end paper manufacturing. The project must showcase the evolving design of the Mazda Miata across multiple generations while simultaneously demonstrating the print quality and texture, French Paper.
The Identity
It combines Mazda's "Jinba Ittai" (horse and rider as one) philosophy with French Paper’s century-old American manufacturing legacy. Using Pop-Tone Banana Split to highlight the vibrant energy of the second-generation models.
The Strategy
Utilizing the nostalgia of pop-up headlights alongside the tactile, toothy feel of classic paper.
As well as using the physical medium of a magazine to emphasize that both driving a roadster and choosing paper are sensory, "analog" experiences in a digital world.
The Application
The primary application is a premium, large format promotional magazine. Key design features include curated spreads, material showcasing and graphic overlays.
The Outcome
The final outcome is a collector’s edition magazine that successfully positions French Paper as the go-to choice for automotive branding.
